Palestinian Women’s Club

Palestinian Women’s Club

The Palestinian Women’s Club (PWC) was established twelve years ago and is the  first and only club of its kind in the city.  All activities are for women and girls and range from children’s days to youth programs to yoga to gymnastics.  The club also has a chorus to learn and perform traditional folk songs, as well as Dabka (traditional Palestinian dance) classes for women of all ages, and gatherings for women to work on traditional Palestinian embroidery. The club also provides classes in skilled trades such as hair and beauty, computers, and languages including French, English, Hebrew and Spanish.

Every March, the PWC has a bazaar for its members to sell handicrafts, providing income and jobs for women in Nablus.  Another annual activity of the PWC is to create a special day for the elderly living in a nearby care facility, as well as to make cake for them on Mother’s Day and deliver it, celebrating their lives.

The Palestinian Women’s Club is a non-profit and run entirely by volunteers.  The cost of becoming a member is ten dinars annually.
